Lago di Braies
Lago di Braies or popularly known as Lago di Instagram, is one of Italy’s most beautiful lakes. Bright blue mountain lake in the heart of Dolomites. Easily accessible so make sure to be the first one there in the morning!
Lago di Braies
According to ancient folklore, Lago di Braies is a magical gateway to the underground kingdom of Fanes. The kingdom of Fanes appears in many South Tyrolean sagas with historical roots going back 2500 years and more. This beautiful scenery will take your breath away. The walk around the lake will take you around 1,5 to 2 hours. There are a few stops with benches where you can relax or have a picnic.
On the docks you can rent the boat and I would highly recommend you do that as soon as they open at 8am. The price for half an hour is 19€, and for a full hour is 29€. One hour will not be enough for you, you could spend the whole day just rowing and enjoying the magical views.
How to reach Lago di Braies?
You can park your car at the end of the road towards the lake – it’s the P3 parking. We paid 6€ for three hours. This parking is reacheable by 9 am, after that the road closes and you’ll have to walk 6 km to reach the lake or take the bus.
When to visit Lago di Braies?
Any time of the year this lake looks magical. But it can get pretty crowded so I would recommend to get there for the sunrise when there are only a few people. After 8am it can get very crowded and you’ll have to wait in the line for the boat.
